SESSION 1. BSC, Operations Department
Conveners: David Vicente and Javier Bartolome

This session will introduce the main topics in the day-to-day operations of a Supercomputer like MareNostrum with more than 48.000 cores running in parallel. The session will cover from the hardware of these HPC systems to the software stack used to achieve the most efficient code performance.

- How to manage a HPC environment like MareNostrum Supercomputer and other BSC facilities.(75 min)

- Supporting the researcher to use the HPC in an efficient way.(75 min)



SESSION 2. BSC, Earth Science Department
Convener: Oriol Jorba

A series of talks will introduce the research done in the Earth Sciences Department of the Barcelona Supercomputing Center on Climate Prediction, Atmospheric Composition and Computational Earth Sciences as well as the Earth System Services derived from the activities of the Department.

The Department develops and applies state-of-the-art Earth Systems Models to study the evolution of the climate, the atmospheric composition and their interrelations.
